Sleep consultant in the Portland Metro

Helping exhausted parents bloom into confidence, rest, and connection to their littles.

Serving families in Portland, Vancouver, Mt Hood, Hood River and virtually.

Does sleep feel like a battle that you just can’t win?

Turns out babies don’t come with manuals, and you may be feeling the strain of that! I confidently support families who are facing exhausting questions like…

  • “Shouldn’t my baby be napping longer?”

  • “Why is my baby awake for such long periods of time?”

  • “Why won’t my baby let me put them down?”

  • “Does my baby have their days and nights mixed up?”

  • “How can we get more sleep at night?”

The good news? You’re a few strategic shifts away from getting the sleep you need!

Sleep isn’t always as complicated as it feels. Phew! With a few very intentional shifts in your routines, approach and circumstances, we can…

I teach families how to lean in and really listen to what their baby is saying.

I happily expanded my education into sleep consulting after serving many families as a postpartum doula and seeing firsthand the complex sleep issues they faced. Caregiving is in my bones! I absolutely love to team up with families to lay the foundation of a flexible, developmentally respectful routine that can blossom over time, nurturing their baby toward important and exciting milestones.

Are you navigating endless opinions about sleep training? Here’s what I believe and value.

I believe in avoiding strict expectations for newborns and parents around sleep, and that parents being well rested is a basic need, not a luxury.

I believe babies are not robots, but constantly changing little humans who require responsive, respectful care in order to form strong attachments and regulate their nervous system.

I believe that understanding baby’s milestones can help to support their development with less frustration, confusion, and disappointment stemming from unrealistic expectations.

I believe every family is unique, that one size fits all sleep “rules” don’t work for everyone, and that it’s important to allow room for shifting goals, beliefs, and approaches along the way.

I believe that understanding priorities, personalities and family dynamics are the keys to an approach that works for you in the long run.

I believe in respect for a baby’s basic needs, including closeness and comfort, being met. Crying is seen as a pathway they use to communicate, and there’s many ways to approach that respectfully!

Kind words from well-loved parents

Your questions about sleep training in Portland, answered.

  • Sleep support may be for you if: you have tried multiple things on your own to relieve the stress of sleep issues with minimal solutions found, you’re feeling frustrated that nothing is working, you’re out of answers or energy to keep trying, or you’re conflicted with different information. Please fill out the contact form at the bottom of this page, and I’ll email you a sleep questionnaire which will help us determine what level of support may be necessary for your family!

  • Sleep guidance and education is integrated into my newborn care and doula support, by nature. But if the sleep deprivation has hit and you’re coming to me later in the game needing answers and a break, that’s okay! We will adjust accordingly to find solutions for your unique needs.

  • Sometimes sleep training involves holding space for some crying, however I do not support abandoning a crying baby. I reframe fussing/crying as communication. Babies are meant to interact and engage with their world, not be silent. If our goal is to always quiet them as quickly as possible, we are taking away their voice and ability to communicate with us. We may be mistaking hunger for a desire to simply be close to you, or try to distract and entertain an infant when what they are communicating is tiredness. I teach families to lean in and really listen to what their baby is saying.

  • Beyond my postpartum doula certification and Pediatric Sleep Consultant Certification, I have also completed the following trainings:

    • Holistic Sleep Mini Course, Lyndsey Hookway IBCLC

    • The Art and Science of Lactation and Sleep, Moorea Malaat PMH-C

    • Sleep Strategies, Child Sleep Institute

    • Advanced Breastfeeding Support Skills, Christina Whitlow IBCLC

    • Foundational and Advanced Newborn Care Specialist Training, Newborn Care Solutions

    • Advanced Postpartum Doula “Working with Multiples” Training, Kimberly Bepler CPD, IBCLC

Please view my About page for more information about my training and qualifications!

  • Fussing is different than full blown crying. If an infant is full blown crying I absolutely want them to be comforted by a trusted adult’s regulated nervous system. They don’t have the brain development to soothe themselves yet. That said, we can build in comforts, cues and utilize gentle, gradual techniques to encourage them to feel safe and secure in their crib so that they don’t need to signal for help, which is what I’m here to teach you how to do!

After you fill out the contact form and sleep questionnaire, I'll reach out within 48 hours to plan a phone call to discuss how best to support your path to better sleep.
